i kinda miss DDR…
2
February 10th, 2010mashup…not so much because of the dancing aspect but rather because of the unapologetic use of cheese dance and j-pop. the time period in which i played DDR with any frequency (between 7 and 5 years ago) was before i listened to anything other than ska, emo, and a touch of what essentially at the time was pop punk. at the very least, it was before i was even remotely interested in house, disco, or anything else within a shade of dancy. interestingly enough, my favorite song in DDR was always a disco house track called “Kind Lady” by Okuyatos, a Japanese producer. i say interesting, because it seems possible that i might have always liked disco house – i just didn’t know it yet. so, while i was gathering tracks for the upcoming podcast, i luckily remembered this tune and managed to find a decent copy of the track. of course, the original is only a buck thirty due to it being a DDR track. There is an extended cut which eclipses the 7 minute mark, but it is really just the short version at the front and back with a 4 minute slap bass breakdown sandwiched in between. Not too mention, it was a touch lacking in the “umfph” department. Thus, i took it back to the shop and worked some magic to come back with the supermucho edit! Enjoy.
